In a recently released Netflix documentary, Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field have opened up about the early days of their relationship. Despite their current happiness and family life, their initial date proved to be a bit of a challenge.

Recalling the awkward beginnings, Robbie shared, “She came over to my house after being at a party. I had just seen off my…associate that I was involved with at the time.”

Ayda also reminisced about their first encounter, describing it as rather peculiar. She remarked, “The house was completely dark. No candles. I thought, this is rather odd. So there we were, with seemingly nothing in common.”

Robbie admitted, “I thought to myself, ‘This isn’t going well. I should probably take her back to the party she came from.'”

Fortunately, they soon discovered a connection during their car journey. Ayda revealed, “Little did I know, Rob had actually planned to leave me at this party!

“I suppose we began, maybe because we both accepted the fact that we weren’t meant for each other, and this was all a bit chaotic. We were just completely candid with each other and we were cracking jokes in the car. And I thought, ‘Oh, he’s funny!'”

Robbie ended up joining the party, and they quickly bonded as he shared, “I had this moment where I felt like I had known her forever.”

After a brief trip to the bathroom for some substances, Ayda took him home to look after him.

She explained, “We stayed up talking. He revealed he had been sober for a very long time. He had just relapsed. It was like my introduction to addiction. I remember finding that very frightening.

“I was really growing fond of this person. Here was this incredibly troubled soul, a rock star in a foreign land, struggling with it all, and a complete mess, but undeniably my person. Like my soulmate.”

Ayda expressed her sense of vulnerability while recounting the phone call that marked the end of her marriage to Robbie Williams. In a video shared on her Instagram, she addressed her followers, stating:

“Hello everyone in Instaworld, it’s the eve of the premiere of the Robbie Williams documentary on Netflix. I’ve received a lot of messages about it today, and it struck me that I’m feeling incredibly exposed about everyone witnessing our lives – Robbie’s life, our life, and our children’s.

“It’s like everyone’s peering into my personal space, into Rob’s personal space.”
