Tragedy Strikes: 15-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed Near Leeds School

A 15-year-old boy tragically lost his life after a stabbing incident near a school in Leeds.

The attack took place on St Margaret’s Avenue, within the Horsforth locality of the city, as confirmed by the head of a nearby school.

Police responded swiftly, arriving at the scene just after 3pm on Tuesday, following reports of the assault.

They have apprehended two teenage boys, launching a full-scale murder investigation.

Paul Bell, the head of Horsforth School, revealed that the victim was a former student of the institution.

The family of the deceased has been duly notified.

Dr. Bell also commented on the attack, stating: “We are mindful of the distress and concern this incident has caused among both students and staff who are acquainted with the student.

“We are committed to providing support for both students and staff within the school, and will keep you updated as soon as we have further information.”

A parent from the school, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed their thoughts: “It’s truly distressing. It’s deeply unsettling, especially considering this is a typically peaceful area.

“You hear about these incidents occurring in London and you worry about teenagers there, but you never anticipate it happening here.

“I can’t stop thinking about the parents. They likely waved him off this morning, expecting him to return home, and now he’s not there.”

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson, stated: “Our investigation is in its early stages, and we are conducting thorough inquiries to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding this tragic loss of a young man’s life.

“Our local police team is collaborating with various partners, including schools in the vicinity, to provide support and reassurance.

“We have already engaged with several witnesses and are eager to hear from anyone with information regarding the incident.”

Jonathan Pryor, Deputy Leader of Leeds City Council, conveyed on X (previously Twitter): “My heartfelt thoughts are with his friends, family, and the entire community surrounding Horsforth school.

“We will be offering every possible form of support to the school and his fellow classmates.”

A multitude of individuals gathered for a candlelit vigil on Broadgate Lane, approximately half a mile from the police cordon on Church Lane.

Embracing one another, some wiped away tears as they congregated around a bench adorned with flowers as a tribute to the boy.

Additionally, two bouquets of white flowers were left at a cordon on Church Lane.
