Will Smith Addresses Jada Pinkett Smith’s Revelations in Her Latest Book

 

Jada Pinkett Smith recently made some revealing statements while promoting her new memoir, “Worthy,” one of which disclosed that she and Will Smith have been living separately for seven years.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Smith finally responded to Pinkett Smith’s revelations, stating that the memoir “kind of woke him up.”

The article summarised Smith’s sentiments, suggesting that Pinkett Smith had led a more adventurous life than he had realised, and that she possesses greater resilience, intelligence, and compassion than he had previously understood.

Smith conveyed in an email to The New York Times, “When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

In addition to the revelation that Pinkett Smith and Smith have been separated for the past seven years, Pinkett Smith also writes in her memoir that Chris Rock asked her out in 2016, under the mistaken belief that she and Smith were no longer together (which was not the case).

Pinkett Smith also addressed the incident at the 2022 Academy Awards where Smith slapped Rock after a joke was made at her expense. She mentioned on Today that she was taken aback because she and Smith hadn’t referred to each other as husband and wife in a “long time.”

Both Smith and Pinkett Smith faced criticism for the incident, and Pinkett Smith told People on Thursday that she wasn’t surprised she received blame, as she had been portrayed as the adulteress after it was revealed she had a relationship with August Alsina while still married to Smith.

“And I think that when we just look at human nature… when you look at the breadcrumbs, people need something to blame,” Pinkett Smith commented.
