Popular among fans of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”, Tony Bellew’s fame has soared since he joined this year’s series. His wife has disclosed the true motivation behind his participation.

The 41-year-old former boxing champion has entertained viewers with his straightforward manner and distinct Liverpudlian charm. His camaraderie, particularly with Sam Thompson, the frontrunner in the jungle-based competition, has endeared him to even more supporters.

Despite his playful antics, Tony’s drive for appearing on the show stems from his late grandmother, Rose. Sadly, Rose passed away in November, merely a day after the athlete confirmed his participation by signing the contract.

Upon Tony’s return to the UK, he’ll be preparing to attend the funeral of a family member.

Throughout his time in the jungle, Tony hasn’t openly discussed the loss much. There was a poignant moment, however, when he dedicated his Jungle Arms karaoke performance to his grandmother.

After soulfully singing Nat King Cole’s timeless track “L-O-V-E,” Tony could be heard murmuring softly, “That was for my dear nan.”

In a recent interview, Rachael Bellew disclosed the depth of Tony’s thoughts about his grandmother during his jungle experience.

“Rose would have been immensely proud of Ant. She passed away just a few days before he entered, which was undeniably tough for him,” she conveyed to The Mirror. “She held a place in Ant’s heart akin to a second mother – he truly revered her.

“He affectionately referred to her as the ‘boss of the family’,” the proud wife and mother continued.

“He’s undertaking this for her, and I’m certain he’ll carry her memory every day while he’s there,” she added.

Tony is now among the final four contestants in camp, vying to be crowned the King or Queen of the jungle.

He joins Josie Gibson, a presenter on This Morning, along with Sam from Made in Chelsea and politician Nigel Farage.

In Saturday’s episode, these stars will engage in the iconic Bushtucker Trial, the Celebrity Cyclone. This challenge includes water slides, fire, and inflatables, pushing them to the brink as they race towards the finish line on the show.

While Sam seems a sure bet for winning the crown, there might still be surprises in store. Many viewers have witnessed a notably different side to the controversial MEP and advocate for Brexit, Nigel Farage.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs each night at 9pm on ITV.
