UK police officer, 23, allegedly raped by knife-wielding attacker at base of Eiffel Tower

 

A 23-year-old woman informed French authorities that she was assaulted by a man wielding a knife in Champs de Mars, a park located near the base of the iconic Parisian tourist spot.

According to the woman, the attack occurred shortly before midnight on Monday evening, as she recounted to local police. She stated that he brandished the knife at her when she attempted to get him to leave.

Approximately an hour after the woman reported the incident and provided a description of the assailant, French police apprehended a 35-year-old man.

The woman was spending the night with a friend in Paris at the time.

Reportedly, the assailant targeted her while she was behind a bush, attending to personal needs. She was only separated from her friend for a brief moment when the attack took place.

This marks the second reported case of assault in Champs de Mars in a span of four months. Earlier, a Mexican tourist claimed she was assaulted, leading to the arrest of two men who were subsequently released.
