Two stars from Loose Women are understood to have decided to part ways with the ITV programme following a disagreement with the management regarding their tax classifications.

It’s believed that Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore will not be making a return to the well-known panel show after being instructed to acknowledge themselves as ITV employees in their contracts, rather than maintaining their status as freelance journalists.

A reported deadlock has emerged between Janet and the television chiefs, with Jane having last appeared on the panel on the 29th of December. The contention reportedly stems from ITV’s introduction of contracts exclusive to PAYE, a move made in reaction to the HMRC’s regulations on off-payroll working.

An insider disclosed to MailOnline, “Jane and Janet are incensed. They’ve contributed immensely to the programme and hold it dear – however… their work spans across various companies and, as journalists, they prize their autonomy. The situation has escalated to quite a tense point. Should this continue, we might see a significant reshuffle in the show’s cast.”

When she’s not appearing on the programme, Jane contributes to The Sun with her own column, while Janet pens pieces for MailOnline. Sources suggest that the agreements they’re under don’t provide benefits such as holiday entitlement, sick pay, or a pension scheme and restrict them from pursuing certain other work opportunities. In response to these claims, a spokesperson from ITV stated, “We do not discuss specific instances; however, ITV is committed to adhering to all guidance and legislation set out by HMRC.”

Jane, aged 61, made her debut on Loose Women in 1999 and remained a part of the show until 2002. She made a comeback in 2013. Meanwhile, Janet, who is 77 years old, has been a fixture on the panel since 2011. In a dramatic turn of events last year, Carol McGiffin left the show, citing her refusal to sign what she deemed an unreasonable contract. Expressing her views in Best magazine, she remarked that “no one in their right mind” would have agreed to the terms. Carol, a familiar face on the programme for over two decades, reportedly clashed with ITV executives following her remarks about the Covid-19 pandemic.

A TV personality, renowned for her intermittent appearances on a show for more than two decades, has reportedly clashed with ITV executives following her remarks about the Covid-19 pandemic. In a revealing interview, Carol expressed nostalgia for her early days in the broadcasting industry, describing them as “the good old days” which were less regulated and offered more freedom.

Reflecting on her tenure on “Loose Women” from the year 2000 until her departure in 2013, she observed a stark contrast in the show’s atmosphere. Carol noted that the environment has become significantly more sensitive, with people becoming easily offended over various issues, a shift from the past when this was less common.
