Countdown’s former star, Carol Vorderman at 63, was revealed as Reindeer on Christmas Day, falling short of winning The Masked Singer festive special, edged out by Ainsley Harriot, who went by the name Partridge.

She recounted her treadmill mishap, referring to a clue aired earlier on the show, to judges Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and special guest Leona Lewis.

“I had a bit of a mishap on a treadmill,” she shared.

“I was training for a half marathon, feeling a bit warm, so I took off all my clothes, hopped back on the treadmill, and then it suddenly went ‘phew,’ trapping me at the bottom… completely naked.”

Understandably, Mo was left gobsmacked, while host Joel Dommett simply gasped, “What?”

You hit the nail on the head, Joel.

Carol shared how she managed to fool Davina during the recording by sending her a text, thinking surely a contestant on The Masked Singer wouldn’t be bold enough to message one of the judges?

Following the episode’s broadcast, the presenter tweeted: ‘Had a blast! Apologies for the singing. Absolutely enjoyed being the Reindeer. Grateful for the love towards Reindeer as well. Wishing EVERYONE a HAPPY CHRISTMAS.’

Ainsley emerged as the standout winner of the night, astonishing everyone with his remarkable vocals. The judges missed the mark, guessing Alan Titchmarsh or Jamie Oliver as the mysterious Partridge.

Julian Clarey was revealed as Decorations, while Blackadder’s Tony Robinson took off the mask as Sprout.

The evening served as an excellent teaser before a fresh lineup of celebrities starts battling it out weekly in the upcoming series of The Masked Singer, launching on December 30 just before The Voice final.
