Dick Van Dyke, 99, Continues to Hit the Gym Three Times a Week
Dick Van Dyke, 99, has revealed the secret to his "age and physical condition"

Dick Van Dyke, approaching his 100th birthday, still commits to going to the gym three times a week.
At 99 years old, the iconic actor is preparing for a “big party” in December to mark his centenary. He also shared some insights into the secret behind his remarkable age and physical fitness.
In a chat with Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen on their podcast, ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name,’ he reflected: “When you think about it… I go back to 1925, and I’m nearly 100. It’s crazy. I’m planning a big celebration.”
He continued, “Someone asked me, ‘What do you attribute your age and physical state to?’ and I said, ‘I’ve always made time for exercise.'”
“We hit the gym three times a week, even now. Three times a week,” he added.
Ted Danson, the beloved sitcom star known for roles in ‘Cheers’ and ‘The Good Place,’ shared that he often spotted Van Dyke working out at a local gym near his Malibu home.
“I’d see you working on the machines if I arrived early enough,” Danson recalled. “And instead of walking to the next one, you’d dance your way over. It was like circuit training, but with dancing. I watched you do that for weeks.”
Van Dyke’s wife, Arlene Silver, 53, chimed in, saying, “He still does that!”
Recently, the couple had to flee their Malibu home due to the Franklin Fire, a wildfire that had spread through the area. Dick shared that he was too “exhausted” to walk to his car and was helped by neighbours.
Appearing on the ‘Today’ show, he recounted the frightening experience: “The fire was coming down from the hill, and we could see it. It was terrifying, and we quickly left. I was trying to crawl to the car, but I was too tired. I couldn’t get up.”
He added, “Three neighbours came to my aid, carried me out, and then went back to put out a fire near the guest house, saving me.”
