Cameron Diaz and Jude Law reportedly ‘fell in love’ while working on The Holiday set, but their connection eventually faded
Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, portraying key roles in the 2006 Christmas film 'The Holiday,' have recently disclosed that their on-screen chemistry transcended into real-life affection.

Since its debut on our screens in 2006, ‘The Holiday’ swiftly earned its place as a Christmas staple. The storyline tracks Amanda Woods (played by Cameron Diaz) and Iris Simpkins (portrayed by Kate Winslet), who opt to exchange homes during the festive season following their respective heartaches. While Iris finds affection with Miles Dumont (played by Jack Black) in the US, Amanda’s heart leans towards Iris’ brother, Graham (embodied by Jude Law), in the UK. The film centres on the unfolding romance of each couple.
Interestingly, it’s been revealed that the chemistry between Cameron and Jude on-screen wasn’t merely acting. Instead, both developed genuine feelings for each other during the filming process.
For context, in 2006, both these A-listers were unattached. Cameron had recently parted ways with Justin Timberlake, while Jude’s marriage to Sienna Miller had concluded.

In 2007, the year following the film’s release, a report stated that Jude travelled to the United States to spend quality time with Cameron. The source mentioned, “Cameron and Jude developed a strong bond while collaborating, and now that connection has evolved into a romantic relationship.”
Despite their mutual affection and the end of their previous relationships, the source subsequently acknowledged that neither of them was prepared “to rush into anything hastily.”

Despite the romance not blossoming fully, Cameron did express her feelings for Jude.
In an interview with the Sunday Mirror during that period, the 51-year-old remarked, ‘There’s a preconceived notion about Jude that doesn’t align with reality. The character he portrays in The Holiday is quite reflective of him. He’s charming, lively, open, and affable. Falling for him is effortless.’
Five years post the 2011 release of The Holiday, rumours of another relationship between the actors emerged when they were reportedly seen together in London while Cameron was filming Gambit.

A source informed Star magazine that they had made contact but were maintaining a casual approach. “They share excellent chemistry and, given their freedom, they began seeing each other casually. He’s simply ensuring Cam has a good time!” they disclosed.
However, as history tells us, neither of these encounters developed into anything substantial. Cameron subsequently married Benji Madden, the lead guitarist of the pop-punk band Good Charlotte. In 2019, the couple welcomed a daughter named Raddix.

In 2019, Jude married his girlfriend, Phillipa Coan. They now have two children. Jude, aged 50, also has three children with his first wife, actor Sadie Frost: Raff, born in 1996; Iris, born in 2000; and Rudy, born in 2002.
Additionally, Jude has two more children. Sophia, his fourth child, was born to American model Samantha Burke in 2009, while Ada, his fifth child, was born to Catherine Harding in 2015.
