“Alex Ogden, 28, is accused of carrying out a violent assault on a man in his 50s at a residence in Islington, north London.

Ogden, who currently has no permanent address but is connected to London, York, and Sheffield, allegedly made remarks during the assault that prompted the Metropolitan Police to classify the incident as a homophobic hate crime. The victim required hospital treatment following the attack on Wednesday, October 18.”

Ogden, known for his use of the train network for travel across the country, is currently sought after for failing to appear in court on August 31. This follows his arrest on charges of three common assaults at York railway station.

Described as a robust white male with a distinctive topknot hairstyle and shaved sides, Ogden’s topknot is often seen braided into smaller plaits or worn long. He speaks with a Yorkshire accent.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley, from the Met’s Central North Public Protection Unit, stated, ‘The suspect hails from Yorkshire and it is believed he arrived in London approximately two weeks ago.

‘While in the capital, he struck up a friendship with a man, claiming he was homeless, and was allowed to stay with him. He subsequently launched an unprovoked knife attack on the man, resulting in serious facial injuries, including a broken nose.’

After the attack, Ogden is reported to have fled the residence and has been on the run since.

DCI Ridley emphasized, ‘We have released an image of the suspect, depicting him with distinctive, unkempt long hair and he speaks with a strong Yorkshire accent.

‘He may still be in possession of a knife, and due to the danger he poses, we advise the public not to approach him, but to immediately dial 999, and we will respond.’

Detective Constable Lauren Gresty, also part of the Central North unit, is leading the investigation into the homophobic assault and urges members of the public to assist the police in locating Ogden.

She stated: “Ogden poses a significant threat and it is of utmost importance that he is located without delay. He is sought after for a series of violent and theft-related offences, and has a history of violent criminal behaviour.

There is a possibility that Ogden may be in possession of a knife, therefore, it is crucial that members of the public refrain from approaching him. If you happen to spot Ogden, or have knowledge of his whereabouts, it is imperative that you dial 999 immediately.”
