Sir David Jason has refuted any rumours of a rift with co-star Nicholas Lyndhurst while revealing behind-the-scenes insights from the show.

The esteemed sitcom veteran, aged 83, rose to fame with his role as Del Boy in the beloved BBC comedy, “Only Fools and Horses,” where he starred alongside Nicholas, portraying his bumbling younger brother Rodney Trotter. Their portrayals spanned from 1981 until the show’s conclusion in 2003.

Despite previous speculations suggesting friction between the two during their time on the series, the 83-year-old actor has clarified the situation. Jason affirmed that he and Nicholas share a strong friendship, stating, “Nic was an exceptional co-partner. Our mutual respect and fondness for each other made us genuine friends.”

Among the most cherished episodes of their sitcom are ‘Time on Our Hands’ and ‘The Jolly Boys’ Outing.’ Watching the show on Christmas Day has become a customary delight in many households, with audiences eagerly anticipating a festive episode after their turkey feasts. Created by the show’s mastermind John Sullivan, this popular series has amassed a devoted fanbase since its inception on our screens.

Only Fools and Horses is set for a comeback this month, offering viewers a special festive treat with a 90-minute documentary named “The Story Of Only Fools and Horses at Christmas,” scheduled to air on Christmas Eve. David will reunite with his on-screen wife, Tessa Peake-Jones, who portrayed Raquel Trotter, alongside guests Theo Paphitis from Dragon’s Den and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

Devotees of the show should tune in to Channel 5 to witness Sir David reminisce about the iconic moments from the award-winning comedy, unveiling secrets from its renowned Christmas episodes. He’s also poised to reveal his personal choice for the best amongst the show’s beloved festive episodes.

According to an insider quoted by The Sun, “It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Trotters, so this documentary is a fantastic way for viewers to satisfy their Only Fools fix.” Producers were thrilled when David was cleared to participate post-surgery, ensuring that this special will be a delight for fans.”

During a recent interview, Sir David reflected on his feelings following the enactment of his final scenes. He expressed, “We received a standing ovation in the studio that lasted for seven minutes. They were unwilling to let us depart.” Director Tony Dow recounted, “I distinctly recall being in that studio and telling the floor manager, ‘That’s it, the conclusion of Only Fools And Horses’. The entire place erupted, the audience went wild.”
