Beloved actress Selma Archerd has passed away at the age of 98. Her career spanned across numerous films and TV shows, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Reports indicate she passed away just over a week ago, prompting heartfelt tributes in her honour. Although the cause of her death remains undisclosed, an obituary shared through the Los Angeles Times, penned by her family, described her as a “devoted mother and grandmother” who peacefully departed on December 14.

The announcement of her passing has stirred an outpouring of condolences on social media. One individual fondly recalled her as a distinctive character, appearing in vintage TV shows and movies, while another highlighted her wonderful persona. Many have expressed their wishes for her to rest in peace.

Throughout her extensive career spanning several decades, Selma graced screens in various notable roles. Notably, she featured in popular shows such as “Charmed” and “The Brady Bunch.” Her recurring portrayal as Nurse Amy on the FOX series “Melrose Place” spanned from 1995 to 1999.

In the film “Lethal Weapon” (1987), which starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, Selma is credited for her role as a police officer. Her return in the sequel “Lethal Weapon 3” (1992) saw her credited as Officer Selma.

Adding to her repertoire, she appeared in “Die Hard” (1988), believed to have played a hostage during the Christmas party at Nakatomi Plaza. Her character, held captive alongside others, became central to Bruce Willis’ portrayal of John McClane attempting a daring rescue within the skyscraper.

Her marital history includes a reported union with Howard M. Rosenblum, ending in divorce in 1968, followed by her marriage to the late columnist Army Archerd in 1969, renowned for his work in Variety magazine. Archerd, lauded for chronicling Hollywood’s elite for over five decades, retired from his esteemed “Just for Variety” column in 2005. However, his passing at the age of 87 in 2009 marked the end of an era.
