Pete Wicks has disclosed that Sam Thompson flouted a significant directive from TV executives upon clinching the title of this year’s popular series, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
The pair of reality TV stars reconvened for their podcast, Staying Relevant, marking the first episode post-Sam’s triumphant win on ITV. Within the episode, Pete, aged 35, and Sam, aged 31, delved into their experiences in Australia, offering their audience a peek behind the scenes.
Pete, renowned from TOWIE, who had flown to Australia to support Sam, divulged an incident where the exuberant Made In Chelsea personality disregarded strict guidelines regarding the iconic bridge. Specifically, Sam had been instructed against jumping when reuniting with Pete on the somewhat unstable bridge.
However, in the heat of his elation over winning, Sam overlooked these instructions. Pete explained the sequence, saying: “Yes, the funniest part was beforehand, a producer would have briefed Sam on the far side of the bridge, instructing him to stand on a designated spot while Pete came to meet him. ‘Do not jump,’ would have been explicitly stated.
Pete disclosed that he had a conversation with a producer prior to the poignant scenes. The producer conveyed that Sam had assured not to leap from the bridge, citing its “rickety” and considerable height. Pete elaborated, saying, “She affirmed, he’s given me his word that he won’t jump.
“But despite this assurance, Sam proceeded to jump. Subsequently, things escalated a bit, but I found myself supporting both our body weights on this precarious bridge.”
Pete elaborated that he lost his balance. He recounted, ‘They said I could have a hug, but I had to turn around for a photo with both our faces on the bridge. But then, I lost my balance. I had to grab hold of the bridge to prevent us from falling over. It was a near-death experience!
Pete took steps to quash any speculation of romantic involvement as he was associated with several notable personalities during his time in Australia. Sightings showed the reality star in intimate settings with EastEnders’ actor Danielle Harold and socialising with Sarah Corrin, partner of Nick Pickard.
In the most recent episode of his podcast, Pete openly addressed these rumours and vehemently denied any involvement in extramarital affairs.
