Russell Brand faced a dining dilemma on New Year’s Day when he, along with his companions, sought to dine out at a Scottish pub but were reportedly turned away due to lack of space.

The controversial comedian has been embroiled in serious allegations of rape, assault, and emotional abuse spanning from 2006 to 2013, as revealed by The Sunday Times, The Times, and a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary in September. Recently, he faced a second round of questioning by Metropolitan Police detectives regarding claims of sexual offences. Brand vehemently denies all the accusations against him.

Upon arrival at The Cross Keys, a pub in Stirlingshire, Brand and his entourage were not granted special treatment for New Year’s Eve lunch. Staff swiftly informed them that no tables were available, and if they intended to dine there, they would have to wait until a table became vacant, regardless of the wait duration.

The Daily Record reported that the actor and comedian had leased Broich House, situated about nine miles from Stirling. The seven-bedroom mansion, nestled within a private 450-acre country estate, reportedly costs Brand around £20,000 per week in rent. Locals have noticed Brand’s presence, spotting him jogging in the mornings since his arrival.

According to the publication, diners at a local pub were surprised by Brand’s sudden appearance, though he swiftly departed after being informed that there was nothing the staff could assist him with. A source shared with the Record: “My family spotted him jogging by the house on New Year’s Eve. He apparently turned up at a private party in the village for the bells.”

In Stirling City Centre, Brand received a warmer reception a few days later when he was approached for selfies by Superdrug staff while shopping for the New Year. This festive break served as a respite amidst the allegations raised against him following the airing of Dispatches.

Brand underwent a police interview under caution on Thursday, December 14, regarding six historical sexual abuse allegations. This came after questioning in November regarding three other claims. He vehemently refutes these allegations, which are alleged to have occurred during his peak fame while working in Hollywood, as well as for the BBC and Channel 4, including appearances on Big Brother spin-off shows, Efourum and Big Brother’s Big Mouth.

Brand had stints on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music from 2006 to 2008. The BBC initiated an investigation into Brand’s conduct.
