Andrew Doyle, a playwright, journalist, and political satirist, joined the broadcasting scene in 2021, hosting the weekly programme ‘Free Speech Nation.’

Despite his vocal support for free speech, Doyle faced criticism after numerous individuals found themselves blocked by him on X platform after calling him out.

Throughout the year, he delved into discussions on his show and hosted guests to address ‘the threat posed by extreme gender ideology,’ particularly concerning transgender children.

As individuals challenged his perspectives over the months, many found themselves blocked from interacting with him.

This week, even more people discovered they were unexpectedly blocked by Doyle, expressing confusion online as they had never engaged with him before.

Numerous individuals have previously shared their experiences regarding various topics such as gay and transgender rights.

“I just discovered I’m blocked by some guy named Andrew Doyle whom I’ve never even interacted with,” one person shared on X.

“Anyone know who Andrew Doyle is? I’ve been blocked by him and I haven’t got a clue who he is,” someone else queried.

Another chimed in: “I think we should form a group for people blocked by Andrew Doyle. It’s like an exclusive club of fabulous individuals.”

Many even found humour in the situation.

“Offering heartfelt condolences to all those not yet blocked by Andrew Doyle. Please don’t feel inadequate or blame yourselves,” someone reassured others.

Most viewers caught on after the host seemed to lose his composure during his recent show.

On GB News during the Christmas Day broadcast, Doyle delivered a speech about the challenges of his role.

“This job of mine, hosting the show, is genuinely tough,” he expressed to guest Lewis Schaffer.

“You often accuse me of censoring and interrupting, but that’s not my intent. I aim to structure the show and maintain coherence. However, when discussions wander into irrelevant territories, I’m compelled to refocus. It’s a demanding job!”

His guest interrupted, remarking, “I’m not suggesting just anyone can handle this, but someone like Paul [Cox] might actually do a better job than you did today.”

The host seemed taken aback and jokingly asked the other guest if he fancied taking over the show, suggesting there was a ‘mutiny’ underway.

In what appeared to be a fit of anger, Doyle tossed his papers in the air and abruptly left the set, leaving the other guests stunned.

While many viewers were incredulous at the scene, Doyle defended himself against criticism, stating it was a mere sketch and that the audience hadn’t grasped the humour.

He then criticised those who were calling him out, characterising it as a ‘pile-on’ and describing the reaction as ‘unhinged’, all because of a light-hearted Christmas Day sketch on a channel some disliked.

In response to queries about blocking gay and transgender individuals, Doyle, who is gay himself, mentioned that occasionally blocking certain groups was necessary for his own mental well-being.

He also took a swipe at the two men involved in the ‘sketch’, expressing disappointment at their lack of support and accusing them of self-preservation.

However, shortly after, Paul extended his support to Doyle, stating that if Andrew Doyle blocked someone, it wasn’t about stifling free speech but ensuring a space where he didn’t have to engage with it. Paul commended Doyle’s intellect and the humour of their Christmas Day sketch, acknowledging that it had entertained many but irked those who didn’t want figures like Doyle and their channel to thrive.
