Probe into Killing of 23-Year-Old in Murder Investigation

An inquiry into the death of a 23-year-old man, discovered with stab wounds in Newcastle, has been initiated by Northumbria Police.

Reports were received by the police of a man being assaulted on Cartmel Green in Slatyford at 23:42 GMT on Wednesday. Despite receiving treatment from paramedics, the victim passed away at the location.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 49-year-old woman and another 24-year-old man have been detained on suspicion of aiding an offender.

Detective Superintendent Sean McGuigan expressed his condolences, stating, “A young man has tragically lost his life, and our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family during this distressing period.”

He further added that an extensive investigation has been launched, with a team of officers diligently working to ascertain the sequence of events leading up to this tragic incident.

Detective Superintendent McGuigan also affirmed that the individuals involved are believed to be acquainted, and there is no perceived threat to the wider public.
