Police investigating two frightening knife-point robberies at a petrol station have released CCTV images of a man they wish to identify in connection with the incidents. Nottinghamshire Police reported that both incidents occurred at the Shell service station on Carlton Road in December, weeks apart.

During the initial incident on December 15 at around 7:25 am, a masked suspect armed with a knife entered the premises. The individual threatened a staff member and demanded cash, e-cigarettes, and tobacco. The culprit then packed the stolen items into a black rucksack and fled the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this incident.

The stolen goods amounted to £187 in cash and approximately £4,350 worth of tobacco, vapes, and cigarettes.

The second incident took place on New Year’s Eve, just before 7:30 am, at the same petrol station. Once again, a suspect with a covered face brandished a large knife, threatening staff and coercing them to hand over cash and a significant quantity of cigarettes.

This time, the robber took £300 in cash and about £6,000 worth of tobacco products. Miraculously, no injuries were sustained during this alarming event. In light of these incidents, the police have released photos of a man they seek to identify in connection with the investigation.

Detective Constable Anabelle Lee, handling the case, expressed concern about the impact on the staff, stating, “While no serious injuries occurred, the experiences have been profoundly distressing for the staff members. One female employee was particularly affected by the ordeal. No one should face such violence and fear in their workplace.”

Lee added, “We strongly believe these incidents are linked and are resolute in our efforts to apprehend the individual responsible. We are actively pursuing various leads, including forensic avenues. Today, we appeal to the public for assistance by releasing CCTV images. Although the images display limited facial features, we hope someone can recognize the individual. It’s crucial we locate this person swiftly to advance our investigation. Do you recognize the person in the images? Are you that individual? Please contact us promptly.”

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the authorities at 101, quoting incident number 0118 of December 31, 2023, or reach out anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
