Last week, the actor had to bow out from the BBC competition alongside professional dancer Katya Jones due to an injury, as announced.

During Saturday night’s show, he disclosed, “I injured my rib and it’s quite painful,” mentioning he was “a little bit high on painkillers as well.”

Expressing sorrow over the unfortunate development, Katya tearfully told her partner, “I hope you’ve got something you can cherish forever.”

A BBC spokesperson stated, “Unfortunately, Nigel has sustained an injury preventing his performance in tonight’s show and necessitating his withdrawal from Strictly.”

While this does take Nigel, aged 50, out of contention for the Glitterball Trophy, viewers can expect his continued presence on the programme.

The EastEnders actor is anticipated to attend the upcoming final on Saturday, December 16, following this week’s semi-final featuring the remaining four couples.

A spokesperson from the BBC expressed regret over the departure of a contestant, especially due to an injury. “Nigel will be greatly missed by his colleagues on the show, and everyone wishes him well, looking forward to his presence at the final on the 16th of December.”

An insider shared insights into Nigel’s approach behind the scenes on Strictly, highlighting his dedication and passionate commitment to his performances.

“Clearly, when things don’t pan out as expected, his emotions run high. It’s no surprise he gets a bit touchy behind the scenes,” an insider revealed to The Sun.

“Viewers caught a glimpse of this when he received disappointing scores for their Quickstep routine in Blackpool.”

The source also highlighted the tight-knit bond within the Strictly crew and professional dancers, likening it to a close-knit family where celebrities are warmly embraced.

“However, any disruption to this long-established harmony can stir up tension,” they explained.

“Nevertheless, everyone involved in the show empathised greatly with Nigel, given the challenging circumstances leading to his departure from the competition.”

The eagerly anticipated return of Strictly Come Dancing is scheduled for Saturday at 7.35pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
