Naked Attraction participant guided off set to ‘compose themselves’ following heightened enthusiasm
The presenter of the popular Channel 4 programme, Anna Richardson, has disclosed that the production team had to intervene when a contestant became 'overly enthusiastic' while filming.
Anna Richardson has disclosed that a participant from Naked Attraction once had to be escorted off the set to ‘calm down’ due to becoming ‘too excited’ during filming.
The television presenter has been at the helm of the Channel 4 reality dating show since its debut in 2016 and has encountered various anatomical surprises over the years. Naked Attraction features a contestant, referred to as the ‘picker,’ evaluating the naked bodies of six strangers in booths before selecting their favourite ‘birthday suit.’ Subsequently, the chosen individual embarks on a clothed date to determine real-life compatibility.
Despite sparking controversy and eliciting numerous Ofcom complaints, the show has successfully completed seven series over the past seven years. One notable behind-the-scenes incident occurred when a male contestant had to be discreetly taken to another room by a stage manager, seemingly stirred by the surroundings.
Speaking on the Andy Jay podcast in 2021, Anna detailed the awkward incident, revealing it happened “a couple of seasons ago” with a “young man” in the pink pod. “He was getting a little bit excited about what was about to happen,” recounted the 53-year-old, noting that the floor manager, Dave, had to intervene, saying, “Come on,” and escort him off the set briefly to regain composure before returning.
The former Supersize vs Superskinny presenter went on to note that such incidents aren’t uncommon on the erotic reality show, stating, “It all happens. Boys being boys – you can’t control your anatomy, can you? So, there’s been a little bit of excitement.” Anna also shared that male contestants often employ tricks to enhance their appearance on camera, such as pre-filming adjustments and requesting increased heating.
“The boys always want the studio to be warm, and they’re all doing that crafty tug behind the pods because they want their manhood to look their very best,” she said. “They’re always fiddling and touching.” In contrast, female contestants on Naked Attraction prefer a cooler environment, as Anna explained, “The girls want the studio to be freezing because they want their boobs to look their very best.”
A celebrity version of the show was reportedly in development but was ultimately abandoned when producers struggled to secure enough famous contestants willing to disrobe on screen.
