A tragic incident unfolded in Greater Manchester as a 35-year-old mother, Perseverance Ncube, succumbed to fatal injuries inflicted by her two young children. Ms. Ncube was discovered with a single chest wound and was rushed to the hospital, where she ultimately passed away.

The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that a 45-year-old man, believed to be known to the victim, was apprehended on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody after attempting to flee the scene. The distressing episode took place in Little Hulton, near Salford, with officers responding to a call about a woman with severe injuries at Dukesgate Grove around 2:40 am on Friday.

GMP’s investigation suggests that the attack was targeted, underscoring the tragic nature of the incident.

She devoted her life to her children

In a heartfelt statement, her family expressed profound sorrow, bidding farewell to Perseverance Ncube, affectionately known as Percy to her close ones.

Describing her as a caring and dedicated mother, the family highlighted Percy’s deep commitment to her children, family, and friends.

They shared, “Percy marked her 35th birthday in October, and her departure has left us with an indescribable feeling of grief. Our primary concern is now offering unwavering support to her children as they navigate life without their mother.”

Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand of Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team stated, “We are currently in the initial phases of our investigation, and a skilled team of detectives is diligently working to establish a comprehensive timeline of events. This will aid us in piecing together the events that transpired earlier this morning.

“The incident involved a truly horrendous attack on a mother, witnessed by her two young children. We urge the public to come forward with any information that could assist our enquiries in finding answers for the victims.

“Greater Manchester Police is reaching out to motorists and residents in the vicinity who may have captured dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell camera footage. We encourage anyone with relevant material to get in touch with us.”
