Reportedly, Sir Michael Caine is poised to return to the screen despite announcing his retirement just a few months ago.

The esteemed 90-year-old actor, renowned for his role in ‘The Dark Knight’, is said to have signed up for a show slated to commence filming next month, according to The Sun.

A source divulged to the publication, “He’s been approached to star in a Netflix series. The specifics are being kept tightly under wraps.”

This news emerges following Caine’s declaration in October of his intent to retire from acting, shortly after the premiere of his latest movie, ‘The Great Escaper’.

Speaking to the BBC, the ‘Italian Job’ actor reasoned that he concluded “you don’t have leading men at 90”. He candidly shared on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, “I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well, I am now.” He reflected on his past successes, pondering, “I’ve had a picture where I’ve played the lead and had incredible reviews… What am I going to do that will beat this?”

In his most recent film, ‘The Great Escaper’, released early October, Caine portrayed the real-life World War Two veteran Bernie Jordan, who escaped from a care home in England to partake in D-Day celebrations in France.
