The esteemed 51-year-old relationship expert from Australia took to Instagram to share a detailed and insightful video recounting the journey of discovering her symptoms were indicative of cancer. Just before the festive season, Mel underwent surgery to remove a tumour after enduring months of excruciating stomach pains.

In a heartfelt announcement last month on Instagram, Mel disclosed her diagnosis, accompanying a photo of herself with her partner and their daughter, stating, “YOU HAVE CANCER.” She recounted initially experiencing severe stomach cramps while filming in Australia, initially dismissed as constipation by her doctor. However, upon returning to the UK and undergoing a scan, she received the diagnosis of colon cancer.

The E4 personality and relationship advisor has courageously shared her battle with colon cancer, aiming to shed light on the distressing and painful symptoms. Encouraging her followers and fans, Mel urged immediate medical attention for any concerning symptoms. She described excruciating stomach pains that left her doubled over in agony.

Mel disclosed experiencing vomiting and a sense of her digestive system shutting down. Despite the distress, she admitted delaying seeking medical help due to her busy filming schedule for the upcoming series of ‘Married At First Sight Australia’.

In a recent upbeat Instagram post, Mel recounted her journey, stating, “My body was quite literally screaming at me for attention, and I wasn’t listening.” She likened the stomach pains to labour and had to pause filming while back in Australia due to the severity of the pain.

Eventually seeking a GP’s help, Mel was initially misdiagnosed, being told her symptoms were attributed to ‘constipation’. However, she sensed something more serious, notably when unable to eat during her flight back to the UK, despite usually relishing the plane’s offerings.

“I’m a bit of a food enthusiast,” Mel explained, “so for me to turn down favourites like scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and champagne – it was a warning sign.”

Closing the informative video, the beloved TV personality expressed gratitude for her fans’ support and urged everyone to prioritize their health in 2024. She captioned the video with a New Year message, sharing her journey with bowel cancer and offering thoughts on managing health better in the coming year. She concluded by inviting her followers to join her on this learning journey.
