Megan Fox opens up about experiencing a pregnancy loss in her recently published book of poetry.

The 37-year-old actress, known for her role in “Jennifer’s Body,” appears to recount a miscarriage in two poems featured in her latest work, “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous,” which is available now. Fox reflects on an ultrasound of a baby girl at ten weeks and a day, expressing, “perhaps if you hadn’t… perhaps if I had…”

In another passage, she yearns, “I long to grasp your hand / hear your laughter,” followed by, “but now / I must bid / farewell.” She also delves into the painful imagery of imagining holding the baby “as they wrench you from within me.”

“I would give anything,” Fox writes. “Tell me, please / what is the ransom / for her soul?”

In May 2022, Fox’s fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly (born Colson Baker), dedicated his performance of the song “Twin Flame” at the Billboard Music Awards to Fox, declaring, “And this is for our unborn child.”

Fox also addresses themes of abuse and detrimental relationships in her poetry. She noted in a prior statement that compiling this collection was her “effort to purge the affliction that had taken hold of me due to my silence.”

“I’ve devoted my entire life to guarding the secrets of men; my body aches from bearing the burden of their sins,” she declared. “My liberation resides within these pages, and I aspire for my words to empower others in reclaiming their happiness and their sense of self, by using their voice to shed light on what’s been concealed, though not forgotten, in the shadows.”

Recently, Fox shared with PEOPLE that the book’s subject matter “draws from various sources.” She clarified, “Some of it is straightforward, while other parts are metaphorical. Certain poems carry a Grimm’s fairy tale essence, and others serve a similar purpose as memes do in online culture. It all resonates with women in some way.”

Fox is a mother to Noah Shannon, 11, Bodhi Ransom, 9, and Journey River, 7, whom she co-parents with her ex, Brian Austin Green, 50. Green has been in a relationship with his fiancée, Sharna Burgess, 38, since 2020. The two have a son, Zane, who is 16 months old, and Green is also a father to Kassius Lijah, 21, with his ex, Vanessa Marcil.

In September, Green and Burgess spoke about their co-parenting dynamic with Fox while appearing on an episode of the Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast. “And [Megan’s] very much a part of our life, and we’ll always be connected because of the kids. So we are all family. So there’s no bad feelings there to be like that cannot be in this house,” Burgess disclosed.

“Megan is in our home,” Green stated. “She visits occasionally when she’s dropping off or picking up the children and she’ll come inside.”

“And spend some time with us,” Burgess interjected.

“She’ll be holding Zane and it feels like we’re one big family,” Green explained to Kramer. “You know, family can be defined in various ways, obviously.”

“But with her, we do share so much, and now she also shares a lot with Sharna. They have an amazing connection, a genuine friendship, and a mutual respect and love for each other because of it.”

“Pretty Boys Are Poisonous” is now available at all major book retailers.
