Maura Higgins has disclosed an “interesting run-in” she had with her ex-partner Curtis Pritchard while participating in the Love Island Games. The two crossed paths in the Villa during the filming of the fifth season of the reality dating show, but went their separate ways seven months after the finale.

At the time, Curtis faced allegations of infidelity, which he vehemently denied. This led fans to anticipate their reunion on the Love Island Games, with Maura taking on the role of social host and Curtis returning as a contestant.

During an interview with former Love Island contestant Kem Cetinay on the Capital Late Show, Maura confirmed that she and her former flame finally met face-to-face.

Kem inquired if it felt “strange” to see her ex again, to which she responded: “You know, everyone’s quite excited about this because they’re aware that I might have to interview him, whether he gets eliminated from the show or makes it to the final.”

“So yes, there might be an encounter there. I mean, I’m not entirely sure how much I can reveal, but… it was intriguing.”

“Do you reckon there’ll be an interview at some point?” Kem suggested.

“Yes, there will be an interview. I’m not entirely certain if I’m allowed to disclose that,” Maura stated.

“But there will be an interview and I’m trying to recollect how it went. I think it went fine, I believe I was courteous. I think,” Maura continued.

“I suspect there may have been instances where I wasn’t overly… polite, but I reckon I turned it into more of a jest.”

The lady from Longford then clarified how the Love Island Games differs substantially from the Love Island format viewers are accustomed to.

“People were really eager to win, taking it very seriously, you know, quite strategic. I was taken aback because some participants were so focused on winning, that it seemed to be their sole concern.”

“There was still some romantic interest, but not as much. What a spectacle though. I was fortunate enough to watch it because obviously I was conducting interviews with all the departing Islanders. And honestly, it’s fantastic.”

Kem asked: “So Islanders from various countries. Wasn’t it a bit strange? Like, was there not a cultural barrier in terms of communication and perhaps flirting?”

Maura remarked: “Yes, there were instances where people had difficulty understanding one another. But I think it was more like, you know, all the UK contestants stuck together. And then all the Americans formed their own group. It went somewhat like that. But it was very fascinating. Very, very fascinating.”
