Kayti Edwards, former girlfriend of Matthew Perry, has implied that the beloved Friends star might have displayed signs of relapse prior to his tragic demise.

The actor, renowned for his iconic role in the hit sitcom Friends, was discovered unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles residence earlier this month, leaving fans and celebrity acquaintances worldwide in mourning.

Just one day before his passing, Matthew was spotted on a date with 25-year-old model Athenna Crosby at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.

Athenna shared that Matthew “declined to peruse the drink menu,” demonstrating his dedication to maintaining sobriety. She disclosed that the Hollywood star exhibited no “inclination to revert to drugs and alcohol.”

Despite the absence of any drugs at the scene and no indication of foul play, law enforcement discovered “antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and a COPD drug in the residence.”

Preliminary toxicology tests revealed no presence of fentanyl or meth in Matthew’s system at the time of his death, leaving the cause of death still undetermined.

Kayti, who was in a relationship with Matthew in 2006 and served as his assistant in 2011, has asserted that there were indications pointing towards a potential relapse.

She informed The Sun: “I find several aspects puzzling. I find it hard to believe that he simply drowned in his Jacuzzi; that just doesn’t seem plausible.”

“I am familiar with Matthew, and I am convinced he wouldn’t have just drowned. I suspect he may have ingested pills in the week leading up to this,” she added.

“They claimed there were no prescription painkillers found at the scene, which doesn’t surprise me, as he wouldn’t leave drugs lying around.”

“He was paranoid and would consume them all, leaving no evidence, and then procure more when he felt the need,” Katyi explained before delving further into his enigmatic Mattman posts. “The Mattman persona wasn’t something he adopted when he was sober. Mattman would emerge when he was not sober, feeling somewhat invincible.”

Matt achieved global recognition for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the television series “Friends” (Image: No attribution).

“I was present when he indulged in substances, although I refrained from partaking, and when I suggested he should perhaps ease off on the drugs, he’d insist, ‘No, I’m Mattman.'”

Kayti asserted that the ‘Chandler Bing’ actor exhibited a “fixation with water” during his episodes of intoxication.

“On one occasion, his Hollywood Hills neighbour discovered Matthew in a state of undress and under the influence in his swimming pool. I had to intervene and retrieve him from the neighbour’s pool. There seemed to be a connection with water when he was under the influence,” she elaborated. “He consistently sought out the pool or hot tub during his drug-fueled moments.”
