Man Fatally Attacked Outside Loddon’s Kings Head Pub

Police are conducting an inquiry into the demise of a man who was assaulted outside a pub in Norfolk.

Neil McGibbon, a plumber in his 50s, was transported to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with life-threatening injuries following an assault near The Kings Head in Loddon on Friday evening.

He continued to receive medical care at the hospital but unfortunately passed away on Monday.

A significant emergency service presence was observed in the vicinity following the assault, which occurred at approximately 9:30 pm.

Five individuals, each in their twenties, were apprehended under suspicion of committing assault causing grievous bodily harm. They underwent questioning at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre. Subsequently, they were granted bail and are scheduled to appear at Wymondham PIC on February 7, 2024.

In a separate incident, a man in his fifties, identified as the sixth suspect, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of assault. He underwent questioning at Wymondham and has since been released on bail, with a scheduled appearance at Wymondham PIC on February 5, 2024.

Detective Inspector Sam Pontin, of the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, has stated, “Inquiries were conducted at the scene throughout the weekend, with several witnesses interviewed. These investigations are ongoing to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the incident, particularly the events leading up to it.”

DI Pontin went on to say, “We recognise that this incident may be unsettling for the local community. Therefore, we urge anyone with pertinent information, who has not yet come forward, to get in touch with us. There will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days as the investigation progresses.”
