Machine Gun Kelly has opted to alter his stage name

Renowned for his music, association with Megan Fox, and his distinctive stage moniker, MGK stands as one of the most identifiable yet divisive artists in the scene.
However, recent indications suggest a potential name shift in response to fan concerns regarding the perceived glorification of weaponry inherent in his current stage name.
During a recent live performance, the rapper encountered a placard urging him to reconsider his name choice.
Addressing the audience, the 33-year-old artist sought clarification on the sign’s message. Fans expressed their desire for him to remove the ‘Machine Gun’ element from his stage name to avoid any association with the glorification of firearms.
Inquisitive about the crowd’s sentiment, MGK prompted a discussion, garnering significant support for the idea, as the arena resonated with chants advocating for a name alteration.
The most direct fix would be to drop “Machine Gun” and stick with Kelly. But, truth be told, ‘Kelly’ doesn’t quite have that star quality.
MGK appears to agree and has opted for a different solution. Rather than scrapping the first part of his name, he’s shedding the last two words and going by ‘Machine.’
Seems like he’s already made the switch official. At the GQ Man of the Year event, he urged reporters to refer to him as ‘Machine.’
He mentioned, “Can we switch from ‘Machine Gun’ to just ‘Machine’?”
He later updated his X and Instagram with posts labelled simply as “Machine.”
