Lauren Oakley from Strictly Come Dancing Opens Up About Devastating Family Tragedy

 

Lauren Oakley, a participant in Strictly Come Dancing, has revealed the sombre news of her grandmother Jean’s passing.

Taking to Instagram, Lauren posted a carousel of pictures with her grandmother and expressed her emotions, saying: “In my heart forever and always.

“When I dance, you’ll be there. My biggest fan. I’ll miss you every day.”

Lauren received support from several Strictly professionals and celebrities in the comments. Zara McDermott expressed her sympathy, saying, “I’m so sorry, Lauren.”

Gorka Márquez shared his support by commenting, “Sending you lots of love,” while Jowita Przystał added, “Sending you lots of love.”

Dianne Buswell and Nancy Xu both conveyed their love to Lauren using a series of heart emojis.

During the 2023 series of Strictly, Lauren was partnered with Channel 4 news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, and unfortunately, the duo became the seventh couple to be eliminated.

After her elimination, Krishnan took to social media to commend Lauren’s exceptional talent. He expressed admiration, stating, “She taught me with patience and trust, boosted me when I doubted, picked me up when I crumbled.”

Highlighting Lauren’s character, Krishnan shared a glimpse into her life beyond dance. During the pandemic, when dance performances came to a halt, Lauren dedicated her time to work in a care home. Additionally, he revealed her aspirations of running an animal sanctuary and praised her vibrant personality, suggesting she’d be perfect for presenting children’s (and family) television.

Looking ahead, Strictly Come Dancing is set to return later this year on BBC One, with the spin-off show, Strictly: It Takes Two, airing on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
