It's quite odd that they opted to publicly sever connections with me solely based on allegations, especially considering that these allegations have since been proven false.

Kevin Spacey has revived his Christmas tradition by appearing in a peculiar new video, reprising his role as Frank Underwood from House of Cards.

In character, the actor engaged in a seven-minute ‘interview’ segment with US conservative host Tucker Carlson on the latter’s X show. Their discussion delved into the 2024 presidential election and the current state of the media.

During the conversation, when Carlson brought up Netflix, the studio behind House of Cards, Spacey remarked, “It’s strange that they opted to sever ties with me solely based on allegations, allegations that have since been proven false. I believe there’s no doubt about that.”

“Netflix owes its existence to me. I catapulted them to success, yet they tried to obliterate me.”

Kevin Spacey portrayed the egotistical US President Frank Underwood for six seasons before being dismissed in 2017 amidst multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

In July, Spacey was acquitted of all nine charges he faced, including seven counts of sexual assault, one count of coercing someone into sexual activity without consent, and one count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The allegations spanned from 2001 to 2013 and involved accusations of sexual offences against four men. Among these were claims of performing a sexual act on a former aspiring actor while he slept and other assaults, such as grabbing a driver’s crotch during a car ride to a celebrity gathering outside London.

From 2018 to 2020, Spacey released a series of peculiar videos portraying his character, Underwood, directly addressing the camera, alluding to his character’s actions, and referencing the real-life allegations against him.

In a recent video, Spacey’s character was asked about a potential 2024 run. He responded, “I believe we need mature leadership. If that means taking on the chief executive role, I’m willing to make that sacrifice for our nation. Our country needs to toughen up. While various issues like gun control dominate, more lives are lost daily due to online trolls.”

When asked if this was scripted or genuine by Tucker, Spacey replied, “It’s probably a bit of both. What’s the line between truth and fiction, reality and performance? I find it fascinating when these realms collide.”

In October, Spacey returned to the stage for the first time since his clearance. He performed a short scene from Shakespeare’s ‘Timon of Athens’ at a theatre in Oxford, during a lecture honouring the late conservative philosopher Roger Scruton. Spacey received a standing ovation for his performance.

Earlier, the actor had been hospitalised in Uzbekistan after a health scare, just before his return to the stage.
