It is reported by an insider that Kate Middleton has ultimately acquiesced to Prince William’s intentions of enrolling their eldest son, Prince George, in one of the nation’s most esteemed boarding schools.

In June, the Prince and Princess of Wales were spotted exploring the grounds of Eton College, prompting speculation about whether George would eventually attend the same institution as his father, William, and his uncle, Prince Harry.

According to a source cited by the Express, the Princess of Wales is apprehensive about the prospect of her son departing for boarding school. However, she has now come to terms with the fact that it is an integral aspect of his destiny as a member of the royal family.

The insider revealed, “Kate held reservations for a long time about sending him away, despite its customary nature. She believes that sending him to such a traditional, elitist establishment contradicts their efforts to modernise the monarchy.”

“In addition, she’ll be longing for George. She and William debated this for years, but he’s ultimately prevailed.”

William initially enrolled at the Berkshire school back in 1995, where he resided during the week and spent weekends visiting his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, at the nearby Windsor Castle.

According to an insider, Kate “ultimately relented” after understanding George’s wish “to follow in his father’s footsteps” and attend the exclusive school with a term fee of £15,432.

Speaking to In Touch Weekly, they further revealed, “Nevertheless, she’s still deeply saddened. Her own experience of being terribly bullied at her initial boarding school makes it unbearable to imagine George going through the same.”

However, the Princess of Wales still has a few more years to enjoy her eldest son’s company before he sets off to boarding school, as students at Eton typically commence their studies at the age of 13.

It was recently disclosed that she won’t be accompanying Prince William on his scheduled trip to Singapore next month for the EarthShot Prize Awards. Instead, she will be staying at home to provide support to George as he prepares for his exams.

The entrance examination for Eton comprises a 150-minute assessment of verbal and mental reasoning. Candidates generally need to achieve a score of 125 or higher to be considered.

The Prince and Princess of Wales relocated to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor in 2022 and enrolled all three of their children at the local Lambrook school.

The source suggested that George, much like his father during his time at the castle, would have the opportunity to visit his family at Eton every weekend. They added that the school is just a nine-minute drive from the family’s cottage, ensuring he can still spend ample time with his parents and siblings.

However, as any devoted mother would, Kate still harbours concerns about how much she will miss her dear boy. The insider went on to say, “But it still feels like her family is being pulled apart. There’s also the worry that William may insist the other two children follow suit. Kate understands that this is all part of her ‘royal duty’.”
