With Christmas just around the corner, the festive spirit is really kicking in. Christmas markets are bustling, our bellies are filled with Festive Bakes, and the airwaves are inundated with round-the-clock Christmas tunes. But the latest news is the real cracker!
It’s been over two decades since the iconic Grinch movie, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” hit the screens, and there’s talk of a comeback.
According to a report earlier this year by Giant Freaking Robot, a sequel to The Grinch is on the horizon, with Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Seuss’s notorious and grouchy character.
The report stated: “Jim Carrey is set to return to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2, once again embodying Dr. Seuss’s most famous and cantankerous creation.”
However, Carrey himself has been mum about this alleged project. This could be quite a surprise considering his remarks back in 2017 when he expressed his reservations about sequels.
He remarked, “I see sequels mainly as a commercial move. While I did enjoy portraying those characters, I felt like I was echoing myself to some extent. After a decade, you find yourself questioning, ‘How did I do that again?’… So, you end up imitating your initial inspiration. It was great fun with Jeff, but I’m not particularly keen on sequels.”
