Jennifer Lawrence has enlisted security following the birth of her baby due to experiencing ‘intrusive thoughts’.
The Academy Award victor joyously greeted her son, Cy, alongside her spouse Cooke Maroney in February of 2022.
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed her increased focus on security following the birth of her one-year-old son, Cy.
In a conversation with Kylie Jenner for Interview magazine, the ‘No Hard Feelings’ actor shared how her perspective on security shifted after becoming a parent.
“Before having a child, security wasn’t a big concern for me. But after having one, given my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, I felt the need for constant security,” she disclosed.
Initially, Jennifer wanted her security team to operate discreetly around her son. However, her outlook evolved over time.
“At first, I wanted them to blend in, almost invisible to my son,” she mentioned. “But as they became part of our lives, I realised they are more than just security personnel. They’re integral to our daily routine.”
Acknowledging the importance of not dismissing those who aid them, she reflected, “It’s not right to ignore someone who plays a significant role in our lives. It’s better to acknowledge them, say hello, ask how they are.”
Expressing her surprise at the transition, she added, “We’ve embraced their presence more than I anticipated. It’s not how I envisioned it initially.”
Jennifer greeted Cy into the world in February 2022 alongside her husband, art gallery director Cooke Maroney. While carrying Cy in November 2021, she expressed to Vanity Fair her strong desire to safeguard her baby’s privacy, stating it was an innate instinct within her.
“I’m intent on ensuring that nobody encroaches upon their existence,” the Academy Award winner emphasised.
Upon Cy’s arrival, the couple opted to maintain confidentiality regarding specific details such as the birthdate, gender, or name of their new addition.
Subsequently, Jennifer divulged more about Cy and her experience of motherhood during an interview with Vogue in September 2022.
“The sheer joy that Cy brings is just—goodness, it’s indescribable,” she expressed. “I constantly reassure him, saying I adore you so immensely, it defies logic.”
