Renowned actress Jennifer Aniston has expressed her heartfelt tribute to her late co-star from the iconic sitcom “Friends,” Matthew Perry. Aniston, known for her portrayal of Rachel Green in the US show alongside Perry’s character Chandler Bing, shared a poignant message on Instagram today (November 15), revealing that Perry’s passing has left a profound impact, stirring emotions she has never encountered before.

As per E! News, the official cause of Perry’s death remains “deferred” on his death certificate, with recent updates indicating that initial autopsy results were inconclusive. The toxicology report has now ruled out methamphetamine or fentanyl overdose as the cause of death. Perry, who battled substance abuse over the years, leaves uncertainties surrounding whether he was using substances at the time of his demise, if another health issue was involved, or if accidental drowning occurred.

In a heartfelt tribute, Aniston celebrates Perry’s humour and highlights the profound love the Friends cast shared for him, describing them as a “chosen family” that permanently altered their trajectories.

“This one has hit deep,” begins Aniston’s message.

“Saying goodbye to our Matty has unleashed a torrent of emotions unlike any I’ve felt before. Loss is a universal experience, be it of life or love. Delving into this grief allows one to appreciate the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone so profoundly. And we loved him deeply; he was an integral part of our essence. We were always the six of us. This chosen family forever altered the course of our identities and the paths we would tread.”

Aniston continues, “For Matty, he was aware of his gift for making people laugh. He once remarked that if he didn’t hear that ‘laugh,’ he felt he might perish. His life quite literally depended on it. And he succeeded beyond measure. He made us all laugh, and laugh heartily. In recent weeks, I’ve revisited our exchanges, alternating between laughter and tears, then back to laughter. I’ll cherish them eternally. Among them, I found a text he sent me out of the blue one day. It encapsulates it all. (Refer to the second slide…)”

“Matty, my love for you is boundless, and I find solace in knowing that you are now at peace, free from any pain. I converse with you daily, and at times, I can almost hear your voice teasing, ‘could you BE any crazier?’

Rest in peace, dear little brother. Your presence never failed to brighten my day… ❤️🕊️”

Aniston’s heartfelt tribute follows yesterday’s homage from Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey Tribbiani, Chandler’s closest friend in the series. In his post on November 14, the actor expressed it was an “honour” to share the stage with Matthew.

“Matthew, it is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell,” LeBlanc wrote alongside stills from Friends. “The moments we shared are honestly among the most cherished times of my life.

“It was an honour to stand alongside you and call you my friend. Your memory will always bring a smile to my face, and you will never be forgotten. Fly freely, brother; you’re finally liberated. Much love. And I suppose you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

“I am immensely grateful for every moment spent with you, Matty, and I miss you every day,” Cox shared.

“When you work as closely with someone as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could relive,” she said, preceding a clip from the sitcom that she believed showcased Perry’s natural comedic charisma.
