Jennifer Aniston was said to have kept a low profile at Matthew Perry’s funeral, which took place six days after the actor, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in Friends, was discovered deceased at his residence in Los Angeles.

The cause of the 54-year-old’s passing remains undisclosed, but there are reports suggesting he drowned in his hot tub. His grief-stricken parents attended the funeral, along with his fellow co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt Le Blanc.

The group of friends, all of whom achieved widespread recognition through the beloved American sitcom, were seen embracing and consoling each other before entering the hour-long service.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Jennifer, also 54 years old, known for her portrayal of Rachel Green, was noted as being ‘among the first to arrive’ at the service held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Friday, 3rd November. An observer mentioned that she maintained a low profile during the high-profile gathering.

Jennifer was recognised as a steadfast source of support for Matthew throughout his struggle with addiction. The late actor even acknowledged her assistance in an interview last year, ahead of the release of his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing”.

In an excerpt from an interview with Diane Sawyer, Matthew talked about how his fellow Friends cast members stood by him. When Diane remarked, “Jennifer, she says, ‘We know you’re drinking’,” Matthew responded, “Yeah, imagine how scary a moment that was.”

He then went on to disclose: “She was the one who reached out the most. You know, I’m really thankful to her for that.”

According to The Daily Mail, a friend of Jennifer’s had previously shared that she had been apprehensive about the day she would receive news of his passing for “20 years”.

The friend reportedly stated: “It doesn’t matter whether he died in a freak accident or if it was directly linked to his struggles with drugs, this was a day that Jennifer had been dreading for two decades. She always wanted to support Matthew in any way she could, and that remained a constant for her.”

Matthew battled with drug and alcohol dependency, which had a significant impact on his time on the television show “Friends”. The actor, known for his role as Chandler, faced addiction to Vicodin and successfully completed a 28-day detox programme in 1997.

In February 2001, he sought rehabilitation once again, this time for addiction to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol.

However, upon Matthew’s passing, reports stated that no substances were discovered at the scene, and there were no signs of any suspicious activity. Later revelations disclosed that initial tests did not indicate the presence of fentanyl or methamphetamines in Matthew’s system at the time of his passing.
