Fred Sirieix, a contestant on ‘I’m A Celebrity,’ has addressed the controversy surrounding what viewers deemed a ‘sexist’ dispute with fellow campmate Josie Gibson.

The renowned First Dates star was eliminated on Tuesday (5th December), sparking widespread discussions about his time in the Australian jungle.

During his stay, tensions flared between Fred and This Morning host Josie when she was appointed as the camp’s chef. Fred seemed to take exception to Josie assuming the role, leading to clashes over culinary expertise.

Recalling the incident, Fred criticised Josie’s rice-cooking abilities, expressing his views to hosts Ant and Dec by stating, ‘There is no method, there is no technique.’

Fred quickly found himself caught up in a controversy labelled as “sexism” not long after joining the show. Numerous viewers accused him of displaying “misogynistic” behaviour towards presenter Josie.

Particularly noteworthy was Fred’s contrasting reaction to the arrival of Sam Thompson as the new camp chef. Unlike his intervention with Josie, Fred appeared unconcerned this time, allowing Sam to proceed without interference.

At one point during the episode, Josie and Sam discussed the issue. Josie joked, “What do you possess that I lack?” Her remark was met with a significant, loaded silence.

During his departure interview with Ant and Dec, Fred discussed his critique of Josie’s cooking, alleging that she “makes it up as she goes along.” He further remarked, “There’s a lot at stake when it comes to the food.”

“And it’s not just about the current culinary creation, which, of course, benefits from the incredible produce. It’s also about what you can prepare the following day using the leftovers, particularly the bones.”

Fred was questioned about his lack of involvement in Sam’s cooking. He asserted that he was more organised, emphasising their structured approach to the culinary process.

This comes in the wake of suspicions among ‘I’m A Celeb’ viewers that Fred was displeased when he was voted off the show. Fans noted during his post-exit interview that he appeared less than thrilled to be there.

On X, previously known as Twitter, an individual commented: “Fred seems genuinely upset.” Another person pondered: “Fred is feeling really disappointed.”

A third person joined in, stating: “Just look at Fred’s expression! He’s truly disappointed!” Another viewer remarked: “He’s disappointed about being voted out and also disappointed that the public didn’t choose him for a trial… farewell, Fred.”

Other supporters expressed regret at his departure. A dedicated follower expressed, “I admired him during his time in the camp.” And another mentioned, “It’s a pity! I understand he could be bothersome with the cooking and trials, but he’s a good person overall, and I’m saddened by Fred’s exit.”
