ITV’s Coronation Street character poised for comeback as Adam seeks vengeance

 

Coronation Street’s Adam Barlow, played by Sam Robertson, is in for quite the surprise as troublemaker Damon Hay, a fan favourite portrayed by Ciaran Griffiths, gears up for a comeback to the cobbles with a vengeful agenda.

Earlier this year, viewers witnessed Adam’s marriage to Sarah Platt, played by Tina O’Brien, collapse following her involvement with Damon in an affair.

Adam successfully drove Damon out of town, leading to his absence from the show for a considerable period. However, that’s about to change as Damon prepares for a dramatic return.

In anticipation of his character’s comeback, actor Ciaran Griffiths mentioned, “He’s absolutely fixated on winning Sarah back. He’s completely infatuated.”

“He’s had her on his mind every day for the past few months and is eager to address that longing.”

Despite Damon’s intentions to turn over a new leaf and move forward, Ciaran disclosed that he still harbours significant plans to settle scores with Adam.

He elaborated, saying, “The injustice of what Adam did to him is something he feels compelled to put right. Damon was compelled to disappear without being able to bid a proper farewell to Sarah. All he managed was to leave Sarah a voicemail, but Adam intercepted and deleted it. Damon isn’t aware of this just yet, but once he finds out, it’s going to significantly escalate things for Adam.”

“Ciaran cautioned that he’s determined to make Adam face consequences; he’s not willing to let Adam’s advantage slide. There’s a debt to settle,” he warned.

“Damon aims to regain control. And regarding Sarah, perhaps this will give him an opportunity when she realizes he didn’t simply vanish, and it was Adam who played foul.”

However, he won’t be the sole troublemaker in town, as Damon is poised to reconnect with his criminal brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

He enthused, “There are extensive, impactful scenes between them, and I thoroughly enjoyed working on them with Will [Mellor].”

“It was a unique experience; those scenes truly had a transformative journey. Will’s an exceptional actor, and I admire how deeply immersed he is in character even before we start filming. It forces you to elevate your performance, and both of us thrive on that.”

The devoted father discussed the actor’s impactful return in the upcoming year, admitting, “They’re gripping. These characters have different backgrounds, and I believe Damon was always somewhat overlooked while growing up, often receiving the brunt of disciplinary actions.”

“Given their deep familiarity, they each believe they can outsmart the other. Damon, being on the outside, initially believes he has an advantage over Harvey, who’s on the inside.”

“However, he quickly learns that Harvey wields influence regardless of his location. He has the power to manipulate situations, especially when it concerns the people Damon cherishes the most.”
