ITV’s Dancing on Ice organisers have had to make a last-minute change to the lineup, replacing one of this year’s stars just days before the show’s launch.

Skating professional Tippy Packard, who was initially set to partner with Eddie The Eagle, had to withdraw due to injury. She has now been replaced by Vicky Ogden.

Vicky shared the news on social media, expressing her excitement: “Exciting Announcement! I’m absolutely thrilled to share that I’ll be skating with the incredible Eddie on this season of @dancingonice.

“Eddie “The Eagle” is a true legend who has captured the hearts of fans worldwide. This year we’re determined to show just how iconic he is.

“Together, let’s recreate the magic and cheer Eddie on like we did all those years ago. Are you ready? 5,6,78 Let’s do this, Eddie!”

Eddie filled in as a replacement contestant for Stephen Lustig-Webb on “Dancing On Ice” after Stephen had to withdraw due to breaking his ankle, according to the Mirror.

The renowned ski jumper expressed mixed feelings about joining the show in place of Stephen, acknowledging it as “bittersweet.”

Expressing his sentiments, Eddie remarked, “It’s bittersweet as whilst I’m delighted to be taking part in the new series I’m gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery. Dancing On Ice is a show I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a challenge I think I’m going to relish.”

Stephen, unfortunately, couldn’t participate in show training after breaking his left ankle.

Regarding his injury, the ‘gutted’ 52-year-old shared, “‘Thank you for all of your kind words and messages. On Wednesday last week during my training session for Dancing on Ice I fell and broke my left ankle. I’ve had surgery and will be on crutches for a few months meaning, I’ve had to leave the competition which I’m absolutely gutted about.”

Skating was an absolute blast—I was thoroughly enjoying the learning process. It’s a shame I won’t be able to continue, but I’ll be cheering on everyone else involved, celebs and pros alike.

On another note, I’ve had to step back from the London Marathon. Staying positive and hoping for a swift recovery to get back on my feet soon.

The show’s spokesperson relayed Stephen’s departure due to an ankle injury sustained during training. Despite his exit, he remains an integral part of the Dancing On Ice family, receiving our support and well wishes for a speedy recovery.
