Individual Apprehended Following Suspected Child Abduction Incident in Devon

According to reports, on Sunday, 15th October, a child was allegedly approached by an individual in a vehicle.

In Devon, a man was apprehended on suspicion of child abduction. The incident unfolded on Sunday, 15th October, when police were called to Derby Road in Barnstaple. It was reported that an unidentified man in a vehicle had approached a child. Concurrently, officers were dispatched to Old Station Road in response to an assault on a man.

The individual connected to the latter incident was initially detained but subsequently released without charge.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging potential witnesses to come forward regarding either occurrence.

Sector Inspector Andy Wills emphasised, “We’re aware of circulating social media posts and advise against speculation, as our enquiries are still in their early stages. We take this matter very seriously.”

A 20-year-old man from Barnstaple was arrested on suspicion of child abduction and has since been released on bail.
