Whilst Christmas brings joy to many, it can stir emotional turmoil for those separated from their families. This winter, Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas finds himself deeply affected by this absence, particularly in relation to his son, Billy, whom he has been estranged from for six years.

The 48-year-old, known for his role as Warren Fox on Channel 4’s soap opera, took to Instagram this week to mark his son’s 18th birthday. Sharing a collection of photos featuring the two of them, Jamie expressed his sentiments, acknowledging the void caused by their separation.

“Happy 18th birthday son,” Jamie wrote in the caption. “Sadly, It’s been 6 years since I’ve been able to see you. But there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about you and cherish our wonderful times together.”

The reason behind the actor’s six-year absence from seeing his son, Billy, remains undisclosed. However, the actor openly expressed his longing for a reunion, stating, “I hope that one day we’ll find our way back together.”

Jamie, who also shares parenthood with actress Kym Marsh for their 12-year-old daughter, Polly, continued with heartfelt sentiments, saying, “I think of you every day and hold you dear to my heart. On your birthday, I wish you joy and happiness, knowing that our family longs for your presence.”

He extended support to fathers facing similar challenges, acknowledging, “To all the dads out there enduring the pain of separation from their children, I empathize deeply with your struggle.”

Many fans expressed their condolences in the comments, offering their sympathies to the television star. Among them was Gary Lucy, Jamie’s co-star from Hollyoaks, who extended his support with an additional message.

“Jamie, I feel compelled to add this second part to my statement for you… I understand the immense pain you’re going through. My prayers are with you, hoping that this deeply distressing situation eases for you both sooner rather than later.

“Brother, your agony resonates with me, and for what it’s worth… I have immense love and gratitude for you, more than words can convey…

“Everything you’ve done for me—checking in, those brief messages, lending an ear, offering guidance, and most importantly, empowering me in times of weakness—I will forever cherish. Stay resilient, my love and support are with you.”
