Jody Bunting, known for his stint on The Big Breakfast from 2001 to 2002 and currently working as a fitness instructor, faced arrest at Luton Airport upon returning from a holiday. Allegations surfaced linking the incident to an October event at the leisure club where a colleague suffered a severe allergic reaction to chocolate, requiring intensive care.

Accused of intentionally placing the chocolate that caused the reaction, Bunting vehemently denies these claims. Expressing disbelief, he recounted feeling shocked at being apprehended in the presence of a friend and then paraded through Luton Airport in restraints.

Bunting mentioned receiving prior warnings from gym members about a potential arrest, yet he remained astonished when local law enforcement officers arrived in London to detain him.

“The custody sergeant inquired about my ability to perform high kicks after recognising me from a Google search,” he shared with Derbyshire Live.

Bunting, aged 45, disclosed to the publication that he’s been released on bail with a condition prohibiting contact with leisure centre staff. He expressed that the incident has spurred his resolve “to never work for someone else again.”

Continuing, he said, “I’m solely focused on the future, anticipating the ‘no further action’ letter from the police any day now. The challenge lies in deciding what to convey to the members who have reached out to me.”

‘When I tell people it’s over a piece of chocolate, they actually laugh out loud,’ Bunting said (Picture: Facebook)

Bunting remarked, “It’s quite amusing when I mention it’s all over a piece of chocolate; people tend to burst into laughter, especially considering my efforts towards slimming down and my history.”

He stated that he hasn’t received any updates from Derbyshire Police following his arrest in November.

Bunting was the host of ‘Lose It with Jody’ on The Big Breakfast and had made appearances as a fitness instructor and weight loss expert on platforms like GB News.

News Prime has reached out to Derbyshire Police and the Mickleover Court Hotel Leisure Club for their comments.
