TalkTV host condemned after screaming at guest in ‘disgraceful’ live interview

TV host Julia Hartley-Brewer faces criticism for alleged lack of professionalism and rudeness in a circulated clip from an interview on Wednesday, as per social media reports.

She spoke with Palestinian MP Dr. Mustafa Barghouti following the Israeli drone strike that killed a senior Hamas deputy leader. However, the conversation escalated into chaos as she began shouting over him.

As he discussed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Harley-Brewer halted him mid-sentence, burying her face in her hands.

“We don’t have the time to delve into the complete history of Benjamin Netanyahu, an unpopular figure in Israel,” she remarked.

As Dr. Barghouti carried on speaking, she suddenly exclaimed, “Mustafa, could you possibly…”

Glancing around the studio momentarily, she chuckled and attempted to pose another query.

“Please refrain from repeating that again. We’re pressed for time; you’ve reiterated that point five times already,” she informed him.

Her frustration boiled over as Dr. Barghouti remarked, “I’m uncertain of what time allows.”

“For heaven’s sake, allow me to complete a sentence, man!” she exclaimed.

“Perhaps you’re unaccustomed to women speaking, I’m unsure, but I’d appreciate finishing my sentence!”

“You’re providing the public with inaccurate information,” Dr. Barghouti calmly countered.

In a tense exchange, Hartley-Brewer dismissed answering his questions due to the limited time, emphasising she wouldn’t attempt it. Desperate to make a final point, she interjected, demanding his stance on Israel’s reaction within a ten-second window. He calmly advocated for ending occupation for peace for both sides.

Unsatisfied, she responded with sarcasm, remarking, “Brilliant.” Concluding the segment, Hartley-Brewer added, “Sorry to have been a woman speaking to you but there you are.”

Viewers were left astonished by her response, denouncing her behaviour.

Nabeel Rajab, a user, expressed, ‘I have never witnessed a presenter this inept. I commend this man and his composure in the face of her impoliteness.’

Afif Aqrabawi shared, ‘That was incredibly frustrating to watch,’ while @AbukulaibAlJahl remarked, ‘What a disgraceful excuse for a journalist!’

Razzil Darkbrew commented, ‘Wow. “Maybe you are not used to women talking.” Just wow.’

Several others called for her dismissal post the interview. @Sahar56226797 stated, ‘She’s not a journalist. She needs to be sacked. What a clown.’
