Emmerdale actor Tony Audenshaw commends his on-screen children in anticipation of an enthralling storyline.

While the grown-ups are engaged at the B&B’s New Year’s Eve celebration, Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling), Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling), and Angelica King (Rebecca Bates) take a spontaneous drive in Wendy Posner’s (Susan Cookson) car. At the party, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) requests the kids’ assistance in serving, and obedient Jimmy King (Nick Miles) is tasked with locating them.

Meanwhile, in the car, Angelica and Heath flirt, goading Cathy to accelerate. Despite Jimmy’s unsuccessful search, Wendy’s missing car raises alarm for Bob. It doesn’t take long for Bob to uncover the truth from April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) about the kids’ unauthorised use of the car. He hastily pursues them to a gathering in Hotten.

Simultaneously, Nicola grows frustrated being pulled away from the Chairman’s side upon learning from Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) that the kids have taken the car for a joyride. Meanwhile, Heath’s impatience with Cathy’s driving escalates. A close call with another vehicle fails to deter Cathy’s determination as she maintains her speed.

Fans will await news on the safe return of the three missing teenagers. Meanwhile, Tony, who has portrayed Bob since 2000, has expressed admiration for the two young actors portraying his twin children for the past 17 years.

Speaking to the Daily Star and other media outlets, Tony remarked, ‘They’re truly remarkable; these kids have practically grown up here. I recall shooting scenes on the moors when the babies were born, with Paddy [Kirk, played by Dominic Brunt] delivering the children. It’s almost 17 years now, yet it feels like just yesterday.’

From their infancy, this has been their existence. Their lives have always revolved around being genuine twins, which I find remarkably extraordinary. They’re fantastic twins, and it’s fascinating that they’re both planning to have twins themselves.”

Continuing, he disclosed, “Bob is currently facing considerable pressure.” Tony acknowledged, “Bob’s parenting isn’t exemplary. He’s made attempts, yet the immense pressure he’s under is undeniable.

“As a parent myself, I find it quite awkward to ferry my kids around or pick them up late at night. We used to get called upon for such tasks, but we’ve outgrown that stage now. It’s hard for him to believe they would do it. He’s uncertain whether Cathy can drive or not, but it’s something Scott Windsor taught her while she was away.

“He’s worried, especially considering Cathy’s erratic behaviour over the past few months due to PMDD. If he had just given them a lift, things might have turned out differently.”

Catch Emmerdale on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm weeknights.
