The 33-year-old British actress known for her role in “The Bling Ring” last appeared in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 film “Little Women,” portraying Meg March.

In an interview with British Vogue for its January edition, the actress from “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” expressed her apprehension about venturing into writing, studying, and directing, as it was an entirely new territory for her.

“Choosing to delve into writing, studying, and getting behind the camera was daunting because it was uncharted for me. I had always been in front of the camera, solely an actor.”

The star of “Beauty And The Beast” has recently shifted towards writing and directing. The Financial Times reported in April that she was commencing an MA in creative writing at Oxford University this year.

Additionally, aside from her acting roles, the actress from “The Bling Ring” directed and starred in a 2022 advertisement campaign for the Prada fragrance, Paradoxe.

Watson expressed her gratitude for stepping away from acting, stating, “I’m immensely pleased with the newfound sense of my own voice and creative freedom, a sovereignty I hadn’t felt before, granting me more autonomy.”

She further reflected, “I’m grateful for allowing things to be uncertain and messy momentarily, embracing the unknown. The clarity I’ve since attained, I wouldn’t exchange for anything.”

Regarding her exposure to fame and Hollywood’s elite, she remarked, “I’ve had a front row seat amongst some of the world’s most successful, beautiful, and remarkable individuals.”

She added, “It becomes strikingly evident that no level of success brings happiness or contentment if one doesn’t appreciate their essence or derive joy from their pursuits when unobserved.”

Watson’s last feature on British Vogue was in 2019, where she discussed entering her thirties, expressing contentment with being single and describing it as “being self-partnered.”

As the UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador since 2014, she notably portrayed Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series and starred in various films, including the 2017 Disney live-action remake of Beauty And The Beast, the 2014 Sofia Coppola-directed movie The Bling Ring, and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower in 2012.
