Surprising news just before the year’s close: Emily Atack, the 34-year-old actress famed for her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe in The Inbetweeners, has revealed her pregnancy. Adding to the revelation, it’s emerged that her undisclosed partner is actually her step-cousin.

Reports suggest that Emily has established a home with Dr. Alistair Garner, 37, a nuclear scientist, after a year of dating. Interestingly, they’ve been acquainted for many years through family ties. Emily’s mother, actress Kate Robbins, is reportedly the sister of Alistair’s step-mother, Jane Garner.

Although their relationship is only through marriage connections, it means that the expecting couple are technically step-cousins. According to the Daily Mail, Jane has been married to Steve Garner since the Nineties, making Steve a beloved uncle to both Emily and Alistair.

Regrettably, Steve, known affectionately as a Richard Gere doppelgänger among fans, passed away last summer. Emily, deeply saddened by the loss of her beloved uncle, fondly referred to within the family as ‘Uncle Beef’, took to social media to honour him. She expressed, “I often shared photos and stories about him here because I adored him. Everyone did. He was the smartest, funniest soul to have around. Always sharing his love for music, cooking, hiking, and writing. He cherished each day, his zest for life was contagious.”

Emily continued, “I feel truly fortunate to have cherished memories with you, Uncle Steve, or ‘Uncle Beef’, The Mountain Man. You illuminated our lives. I love you dearly, and your absence is deeply felt. May your spirit live on through music and the mountains. Rest peacefully, my wonderful Uncle Beef.”

Kate, Emily’s mother, seemingly affirmed the family relationship in a past social media post, referring to Alistair as her ‘nephew’. Sharing a throwback photo with Alistair, she wrote, “In 1982, I had this rather moody publicity shot taken. Yes, cringe-worthy. Fast forward to 2019 #Glastonbury, my nephew @bigfattyalan is wearing the same jacket (minus tassels). Good recycling.”

Love seems to have taken root in the relationship between Emily and Alistair recently, though they’ve been part of each other’s lives for a good 30 years. Alistair has frequently appeared in family photographs, often joining Emily, her mum Kate, aunt Jane, and sister Martha in group shots. One caption even cheekily remarked, “He’s just one of the girls, really.”

Before her romance with Alistair, Emily, whose list of rumored famous exes includes Harry Styles, McFly’s Dougie Poynter, Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice, and footballer Jack Grealish, expressed her weariness at being single. She admitted to feeling lonely at times, even shedding tears before drifting off to sleep.

According to a source cited by the Daily Mail, “Emily and Alistair have grown remarkably close over the past year. It was unexpected, but their families are overjoyed for them. They’re a fantastic couple, and everyone is eagerly anticipating their new addition.”

And it appears there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the impending arrival in April. Emily, currently around five months pregnant, has chosen to maintain a low profile to conceal her growing bump, sparking excitement among everyone eagerly awaiting the new addition.

Keith Atack, Emily’s proud dad and a musician who was previously married to her mum Kate from 1987 to 2008, shared the same picture Emily used to announce her unexpected pregnancy. Overflowing with joy, he expressed his excitement at the prospect of becoming a grandparent: “I’m going to be a Grandad!!! Couldn’t be more thrilled xxx congratulations to Emily and Al.”

Kate, Emily’s ex-mother-in-law, affectionately responded to Keith’s message with “Granpa Keef!” On her own Instagram, the 65-year-old, renowned for her roles in EastEnders, After Life, and most recently Channel 4’s The Couple Next Door, conveyed her delight at the news of becoming a grandmother: “My baby having a baby. Could not be more thrilled if I tried,” she wrote alongside a photo of Emily on her Instagram Stories.

Kate and Keith have two grown children, Martha, 31, who works as a talent agent, and George, 32. However, in the 1980s, Kate was part of a band called Prima Donna alongside her sister Jane. They represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, achieving third place in 1980 with their song ‘Love Enough for Two’.

The family boasts a streak of fame. Kate is also the sister of actress Amy Robbins, known for her recent role as barmaid Daisy’s mother, Christina, in Coronation Street. Additionally, their mother reportedly had a familial connection to Beatles star Paul McCartney through her in-law cousin relationship with Paul’s late wife, Linda McCartney.

Breaking the news of her pregnancy last weekend, Emily shared a picture displaying her baby bump with her 1.8 million followers on Instagram. She joyfully exclaimed, “Hello everyone, it’s been a little while, but I’m back with some news. I’m thrilled to announce that we’re expecting a baby!”

Emily expressed, “I’ve never felt such a mix of happiness and sheer terror. Please, be gentle with me. Every day is a whirlwind of excitement, fear, elation, and chaos, often accompanied by a fair amount of nausea – a bit like that feeling when you stumble off Oblivion at Alton Towers with a hangover.

“I’ve become intimately familiar with my body on a whole new level. It’s taught me to truly value the body I’ve been given, as I strive to create a welcoming home for the little one I’m carrying. Already, it feels like the baby’s lounging on a mattress in there, munching on peanut butter and jam sandwiches, demanding more chocolate buttons. Sharing all this with you brings me immense joy. You’ve been there for me over the years, and I hope you’ll stick around as I embark on this new chapter as a mum. Gosh, let’s do this.”

News Prime has reached out to Emily’s representative for their response to these statements.
