Actor David Tennant, known for his role in Doctor Who, crossed paths with actress and producer Georgia on the set of the sci-fi series. Georgia portrayed the Doctor’s daughter, Jenny, during her stint on the show.

Since 2011, the couple has been married and they share five children: Olive, Wilfred, Doris, Birdie, and Ty—Georgia’s eldest child, who was adopted by the Good Omens actor.

Despite keeping their personal lives discreet, David and Georgia have previously opened up about the trials they’ve faced together.

In a recent interview ahead of their roles as the Macbeths at London’s Donmar Warehouse, David spoke about the profound connection he shares with Georgia, stating, “I seek guidance from my wife; I don’t make decisions without her,” as he discussed his relationship with The Guardian alongside Cush Jumbo.

“In 2018, the couple faced a challenging period when Georgia was diagnosed with early-stage cervical cancer, a condition she successfully overcame through treatment.

David reflected on this experience in an interview with The Telegraph, describing it as peculiar. “Learning about the diagnosis after it had been resolved brought mixed emotions—we felt relief and horror simultaneously,” he expressed.

Recalling the moment, Georgia mentioned instructing David to take the doctor’s call regarding updates. She underwent a biopsy and cervical excision to address tissue concerns highlighted by an abnormal smear.

“I was aware something might be amiss, so David received the initial news: it was concerning, but they managed to eliminate it,” she explained.

“He insisted I speak to the doctor myself, understanding it was something I needed,” she added, emphasizing how he encouraged her to confront the situation firsthand.”

Georgia chronicled her journey on her blog, encouraging her followers to undergo smear tests to prevent similar situations.

As a mother of five, she wrote at the time, “Yesterday, the kind doctor called with the results. It was cancer. They managed to remove it all, but it was indeed cancer. I’ve battled cancer without even knowing I had it. It’s still sinking in; it’s a lot to comprehend.”

“My deceitful cervix had initiated an attempt to harm me, yet through sheer luck, I halted it, defeated it, excised it before it could progress beyond the initial stages (that’s akin to preventing it from spreading further than the layers already removed).”

She further expressed, “Surviving cancer without being aware of its presence is bewildering. The endless stream of ‘what ifs?’ The current state of mind is a mix of being partly terrified and partly feeling like a superhero.”
