The actress, renowned for her roles as Katy Harris in Coronation Street and Donna-Marie Quinn in Hollyoaks, disclosed that she was admitted to the hospital, necessitating an emergency blood transfusion.

Updating her Instagram followers, the 40-year-old Lucy-Jo posted a selfie in workout attire, alongside her exercise log.

She captioned the photo: ‘Just as I was getting back into the gym last month… clearly, I wasn’t well. It’s taken some time, but now that I’m on the mend, I’m determined to prioritise my fitness again. ♥️💪🏻’

“I’ve discovered that engaging in regular fitness activities is incredibly beneficial for my mental well-being. Despite the initial discomfort, the sense of accomplishment after completing a workout is truly uplifting 💪🏻😂.

In reflection, I’ve observed that being accountable to someone else serves as a powerful motivator. When left to my own devices, I often succumb to excuses, finding comfort in a cozy coffee shop rather than heading to the gym.”

Lucy-Jo has recently bid farewell to Hollyoaks, marking the end of Donna-Marie Quinn’s extensive tenure as a prominent character, which included recurring appearances since her introduction in 2018.

When questioned about the possibility of her return, Lucy-Jo shared with Metro.co.uk: “Never say never! I’ve genuinely enjoyed portraying Donna-Marie. In a programme where glamour prevails, I’ve relished embodying the downtrodden character with yellowed teeth, a pallid complexion, dark eyes, and greasy hair – I’ve embraced that aesthetic.”

Coronation Street witnessed Lucy-Jo’s 16-year-old character, Katy, becoming entangled in a controversial relationship with Martin Platt, a man in his 40s.

Her storyline, nicknamed ‘Killer Katy’ during a dedicated ITV week, concluded with her tragically taking the lives of her father, Tommy, and then her own.

Devotees of the character promptly shared their opinions in the comments on Lucy-Jo’s post, with one expressing, ‘I adore watching classic Coronation Street and relishing the drama with Katy.’

Another enthusiast remarked, ‘Absolutely cherished this era of Coronation Street. I was in high school at the time and utterly captivated.’
