Coleen Rooney has stated that she no longer feels the need to dwell on Rebekah Vardy, following the debut of her Disney+ series delving into the “Wagatha Christie” trial. Vardy, a fellow footballer’s spouse, pursued a High Court libel case against Rooney in response to allegations that the 41-year-old had been divulging information to a tabloid publication.

In a social media update, which gained the moniker “Wagatha Christie” in online circles, 37-year-old Rooney asserted that Vardy was the origin of three “false” articles in The Sun, containing fabricated details she had purposely shared on her private Instagram stories to identify the source of the leak.

Rebekah Vardy, the wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy, lost her High Court case after the judge determined that Coleen Rooney’s claims were ‘substantially true’. Subsequently, Rooney produced ‘Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story’ in collaboration with Disney+.

When asked about her feelings towards Vardy on Thursday’s episode of ‘This Morning’, Rooney stated: ‘I don’t need to dwell on it. I have my own family and friends, and I’m currently focused on my book and series. As we approach Christmas, I’m looking forward to a peaceful family celebration. And as we head into the New Year, I’ll take a moment to breathe and see what comes next. This is my account, my perspective. I prefer not to dwell on the other side’s viewpoint.’

The trial had earned the nickname ‘Wagatha Christie’, a nod to the famous mystery writer, and the term ‘Wag’, which refers to the ‘wives and girlfriends’ of high-profile footballers, as both women are married to former England teammates.

Rooney, the wife of football manager Wayne Rooney, has also recently launched her autobiography, ‘My Account: The Official Autobiography’.

In the book, she delves into her experience of growing up under public scrutiny in Liverpool as the partner of an England footballer, as well as the legal battle with Vardy.

She was also questioned about the memoir, which details Rooney’s accounts of ‘affairs’, and what motivated her to disclose personal aspects of her life.

Rooney responded: ‘I’ve had the opportunity to sit down and reflect on it all. I want to share my truth and let people understand who I am and the motivations behind my actions and thoughts. Of course, the relationship with Wayne has had its challenges over the years, but there has always been love. So why give up on it? If the love is still there, why not try to work things out? And there’s a part of our journey that people haven’t seen because we’ve dealt with it privately. It’s been a struggle at times, it’s been tough.’

She went on to mention that the couple are now ‘moving forward’ from their relationship difficulties.
