A father is embarking on a 240-mile (386km) run to raise funds for a children’s charity that offered invaluable support to his family during his daughter’s hospitalization.

Ryan Gosling’s goal is to collect £10,000 by completing the round trip from Barnstaple to Bristol within six days.

He’s taking on this challenge in honour of Ronald McDonald House, which provided complimentary lodging while his daughter, Indie, was receiving treatment at just five days old.

Gosling expressed his desire for other families to be aware of the available support.

In October 2022, Indie was admitted to Bristol Royal Infirmary after being diagnosed with hyperglycaemia.

Throughout her three-week stay in the hospital, Ronald McDonald House extended a ‘home away from home’ at the nearby Bristol House, enabling the parents to remain in close proximity to their daughter.

The charity provided crucial support for the family during Indie’s recovery, and the accommodation saved them substantial amounts in travel and hotel expenses.

Mr. Gosling, an Army commando, has undertaken this long-distance run to express his gratitude to the charity and to contribute to the ongoing efforts of Ronald McDonald House nationwide.

He commenced his run on the 8th of October, marking the first anniversary of his daughter’s hospital admission, and has currently amassed £6,600 in donations.

“This is an experience many families have faced across the country,” he noted.

“It’s important for people to realise that Ronald McDonald Houses are accessible resources, ready to lend a helping hand,” Mr. Gosling emphasised.
