The much-loved landlord of the Queen Vic disappeared at sea during the festive season last year, reminiscent of Neighbours’ Harold Bishop, leaving viewers in suspense with no clues about his whereabouts.

His noble aim was to rescue his beloved soulmate, Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright), after a pregnant Janine Butcher (portrayed by Charlie Brooks) caused them both to plunge into the perilous waves.

Following Linda’s instructions, Mick saved Janine, who was scheming at the time, and their unborn child before returning to the ocean to find Linda, unaware that she had already reached safety on shore.

Prior to his appearance on EastEnders, Danny Dyer held another significant role as Tommy Johnson in the 2004 sports drama “The Football Factory.” With the film marking its 20th anniversary next year, it seems that Dyer is set to revisit his tough-guy character.

A source informed The Sun: “Plans for ‘Football Factory 2’ are in motion, and filming is scheduled to commence in January.”

“There is optimism that the turnaround for the project will be swift enough to ensure its release in 2024, coinciding with the 20th anniversary.”

Regarding Danny’s involvement, it was noted, “This project holds immense personal significance for Danny, who eagerly anticipates reprising his role.”

The departure of Danny from the soap marked the conclusion of a tremendously popular era for EastEnders, leaving devoted fans deeply saddened by the departure of such an iconic character.

Explaining his decision to leave the show, 46-year-old Danny shared that it was primarily due to a perceived decline in quality.

“In the initial years, we excelled,” he remarked regarding earlier storylines. “It held substantial impact. Viewers paid more attention to us than to these politicians.”

“I’ve been fortunate to experience some incredible storylines, but also some disappointing ones. However, things went downhill towards the conclusion. It’s regrettable that it had to end, but I had reached my limit.”

“In contrast, EastEnders has thrived under the leadership of new boss Chris Clenshaw, who has effectively revitalised the BBC One soap to its former excellence.”

“Since Chris took charge, the long-standing series has achieved an unprecedented number of awards, securing the Best Soap accolade – alongside several others – at the British Soap Awards, the NTAs, and the Inside Soap Awards.”
