Renowned actress Frances Sternhagen, celebrated for her roles in ‘Cheers’ and ‘Sex and the City’, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 due to natural causes on Monday, November 27th, 2023, in New Rochelle, NY. Her family, as reported by PEOPLE, confirmed her departure with a statement expressing their deep sorrow.

“Actress Frances Sternhagen, our beloved mother, peacefully passed away of natural causes in New Rochelle, NY, on November 27th, 2023, at 93 years old. Her legacy continues through her six children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. We plan to honour her exceptional career and life in a celebration around her 94th birthday in mid-January. Her love and life continue to inspire us,” the family stated.

John Carlin, her son, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, commemorating his mother’s life and talent. “Frannie. Mum. Frances Sternhagen. On Monday night, Nov 27, she peacefully left us at her home, just a month and a half before her 94th birthday. More reflections will come, but for now, I’m grateful for the incredible gift of an artist and person that was Frances Sternhagen. She was cherished by many. I’m incredibly fortunate to have called her my mum, my companion, my partner in song and dance. We were together last week, and we spoke on Monday afternoon, expressing our love and longing for each other,” he wrote.

Sternhagen, a recipient of two Tony Awards for her remarkable performances in ‘The Good Doctor’ and ‘The Heiress’, also graced the silver screen with her talent in renowned movies such as ‘Outland’, ‘Raising Cain’, ‘Julie and Julia’, ‘Starting Over’, ‘Independence Day’, and ‘Doc Hollywood’.
